Why We Give

Dear Hancock Members and Friends-

Families and individuals give to support the ministries of Hancock Church because we cannot imagine our lives without the Good News that happens here. We give because:

  • Only Hancock could have led Lexington Unites for Puerto Rico. With our building and the strength of our leaders, our church did more for victims of Hurricane Maria in three towns in Puerto Rico than the entire federal government.
  • Hancock is home to spiritually hungry, justice-loving, friend-making, all-welcoming people of all ages, working together to change the world. It thrills us to the core to see children and youth learning to trust to their bones the truth that God loves them, no matter what.
  • We think that we’re on the edge of a new day of health and vitality that will make Hancock Next a church to behold.
  • We know how blessed we are to work, play, worship, stand up, speak out, laugh and rejoice with each one of you.
  • There’s nothing else like Hancock Church, our spiritual home. So we give, and give generously, and thank you for doing the same! Together, we have done so much, and will do so much more!

Hancock Historic Building

Hancock UCC worships in an architecturally significant historic building that has facilitated life-changing worship and ministry programs in Lexington area for more than 120 years. Ensuring any historic building continues to function effectively in a modern world can be quite expensive. Gifts to this fund pay for needed structural repairs and updating the church to support technology upgrades to continue the great work of this congregation in the community.

Andover Newton Seminary at Yale

Hancock Church has had a strategic partnership with Andover Newton for more than 50 years. It's mission has been to educate learned clergy, particularly those who serve in the family of locally-governed, “small c” congregational traditions, such as the United Church of Christ and the American Baptist Churches (USA). Hancock Church has served as the church home for more than 60 student ministers over the years.
